Artist Bio

Tyler is an interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker. His work often focuses on island spaces, mystical themes and nature. He has exhibited widely throughout the Caribbean and United States. Tyler has been an artist in residence at Popop Studios International Center for the Arts in Nassau Bahamas, the Trinidad Theatre Workshop and Alice Yard in Port of Spain,
Trinidad. His Caribbean Documentary film My Father's Land was awarded an Amnesty International Human Rights prize. Tyler curated and produced the group exhibitions LIME, in Brooklyn New York and Nantucket; featuring performances and fine art from over 50 emerging artists. An accomplished bronze sculptor, Tyler studied from a young age at his grandparents studio and foundry in the Bahamas and furthered his studies, attending art school in the United States. He managed the creation of the Bahamas National Monument of the late Sir Lyndn Pindling. Handing all aspects of the monument's creation, from organizing and delivery of the project proposal, to facilitating the sculpting, casting and installation of the monument. Most recently he completed a film addressing climate challenges and its effects on human mobility in the Caribbean for the OECS. Tyler is also the founder of the Portland Maine Film festival, which he executive produced for five consecutive years with support from the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
