As a member of the NGC Couva Joylanders Steel Orchestra for over 15 years, Mr. Stefon West has
graduated from a mere double guitar pan player to the 2020 National Medium Panorama Champion
Arranger! This was no simple task, as Mr. West had to excel at various levels of leadership within the
orchestra, such as Section Leader, Chief Skills Officer, Assistant Drill Master, Stage-side/Panorama

Drill Master and Operations Manager before settling into his new, additional role as the in-house/Panorama Arranger. Mr. West is the proud recipient of an Artiste Diploma in Music
Performance and a Bachelor in the Fine Arts specialization Music, completed in 2015 and 2019 respectfully. In addition to his 2020 Panorama Medium Category victory, Mr. West has also enjoyed other
arranging successes such as the 2014 PanChuta Competition (5th place), the 2017 UTT Panorama
Competition (1st place) and also the 2019 Panorama Medium Category Competition (3rd place).
Currently, Mr. West is also sharing his love for steelpan music as the tutor of the Peace Drums
Initiative in Israel; an Interfaith Project charged with bringing peace amongst members of the Jewish
and Arabic community, using the steelpan as a medium. Through all his endeavors both locally and internationally, Mr. West has proven that all things are possible with an unwavering passion and dedication for music coupled with the determination and support of a great team. He is truly a young arranger on the rise and one to definitely look out for come Panorama 2021 and beyond!
