Shaka Payne most definitely described as your fun, contemporary, highly creative and inspiring
artist with works in graphics, motion graphics, photography, music and film. Hailing from the
slums of Parade Gardens, a derelict community plagued by myriads of problems and Crime and
Violence being a prominent one, the community segregated by tribal politics and modern gang
warfare is most commonly known as Southside and Telaviv. Shaka believes a lot of his creative
inspiration is derived from his community and what he has experienced growing up in the
garrison. His volunteerism with the Community Center and work with the youth is also a strong
factor that influences his art and can be seen expressed within them. Some of his better works
goes beyond just artistic expression as it tackles relevant and serious issues like the gender gap,
cultural degradation or crime and violence. He seeks to inspire the youth and make everyone
feel better with his artwork and photography or his comedic drama pieces expressed in short
films.
