Rich Richards is a trans masculine Jamaican who continues to occupy spaces that are deemed unreachable by trans bodies. He is a mobilizer, graphic artist, political activist and an advocate for marginalized people since the age of 15. Rich is the first openly LGBT Jamaican to announce an interest in political candidacy, and he utilizes his social location as a political leader to increase queer visibility and
advance conversations around queer acceptance. He is keen on unearthing a deeper understanding of the value of queer citizens to political movements and the arts. He uses the written word and graphic arts as well as ‘on the corner’ reasonings in innercity communities to share his journey and those of others like him who live at the interaction of blackness, transness, and ‘ghetto identity’ in a bid to claim space and
propose new queer futures that are more inclusive.
