Renard Harris is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Clarendon Jamaica. He specialises in printmaking but also explores other art forms such as sculpture and painting. Harris was born in Spanish Town Jamaica on October 21 st 1993, but grew up in a small district called Coates Pen in May Pen Clarendon. Growing up, he spent most of his days drawing automobiles and cartoon characters. Realising his love for mechanics and automobiles, Harris started to explore the possibility of making mimic versions of cars from cardboard. As his love for cardboard developed, so did his ability to manipulate the material
effectively and overtime he began creating large detailed sculptures from cardboard. Though Harris holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in printmaking from Edna Manley College, he feels more attached to sculpture. Renard Harris is a recipient of numerous awards including his latest a second place award in the 2020 JCDC Visual Arts competition for his work Titled ‘Yeng Culture.’
