Omar Martha (1985, Curacao) is a 21st century photographer. After finishing a degree in communication and multimedia design he has spent the years teaching himself not just modern digital photography, but also a newfound fascination with alternative and historical photographic processes as a way to materialize his photographic vision. While most of his works are analog and handmade, his process does not follow a dogmatic analog route but combines all the photographic tools available to a photographer and printmaker in the 21st century. Through these processes he is able to translate his often personal and intimate subjects to photographic objects that are by nature of his method and personal attention unique both in physicality and insight into the photographer’s mind. Next to his personal work Martha has been a staff member at Instituto Buena Bista since ’09 where he is responsible for the day to day running of the institute and teaches photography, debate, presentation, and printmaking to the students among other subjects.
