Grown up in the Caribbean as daughter of argentine inmigrantes, has been a constant test of my endurance. I am not Dominican enough to belong to a local community but not Argentine enough to belong to an immigrant community. I am interested in going beyond nationalities and borders. Tangible geographic space; which exists long before human started to created their own tragedy. We only exist because we are allowed to stand on a piece of land. Not knowing where I’m from or where I belong, is what I am. Coming to this conclusion took me to create my own maps and my textiles are the expression of that: my own pieces of land. Worlds that I made up, so I could make sense of who I am. With the yarns I form rivers, mountains, valleys, tectonic plates, tree roots, air flows and all the natural formations shaping the tapestry. I create maps without political limits, but where everything is interconnected, if one pylon falls the other is affected. Like in nature, like in weaving.
