Jamaica based Visual Artist, Īṣā Orí, has been honing her skills in Surrealism and Social-Realism Painting since 2018. Even though she was never formally trained nor educated in the field, her undeniable talent has evolved exponentially.
At the start of her artistic journey , Īṣā gave life to her images using charcoal on paper. Later, she was able to create a strong physical presence in her characters using acrylic and oil paints. She loved the unique quality each of the three mediums brought to a piece, however, she fell in love with the rich vibrancy of oils.
Subsequently, she became observantly fascinated by the suggestive emotional expressions of the human form, hence they became the subject of her work. Extracting inspiration from the reckless assassination of innocence, the dismantling of nature, the technological swap of genuine love and the disintegration of traditional ways of life, she uses selected mediums to metamorphose standard notions of realism into a distinctive expressive piece.
