Artist Bio

Halcian Pierre is a full time Trinidadian artist who defines her distinct painting style as
Caribbean Neo Pop art; a colourful, vibrant mix of 60s pop art and Caribbean Folk art.
Born in Woodbrook and a graduate of St Francois Girls’ College and COSTAATT, Halcian has
been drawing and painting since childhood, and in 2013 she returned to her craft after a
decade-long hiatus.
Her pieces are easily recognizable through her colourful applications of acrylics and gel pens,
and she is fondly known for her large and mini neo pop paintings of women in eye-catching
clothing and headwraps. She also does black and white drawings, and has a huge love for
cartoons.
Back in the 1990s she was the artist behind the cartoon series “Yuh is a True Trini if…”, and in
her spare time she creates humorous local pen and ink cartoon drawings and illustrations of
T&T life from her home studio in St James.
