Artist Bio

Gena-Marie is a self-taught visual artist with experience and qualifications from C.S.E.C. Her
inspiration comes mainly from her lovely home island of Trinidad. In her artwork she depicts
in imaginative ways verdant flora, patterns, portraiture, geometric shapes, building
landscapes, the diverse fauna of Trinidad, and other Caribbean landscapes. She has a BSc
majoring in Environmental & Natural Resources Management, and minor in Biology from
the University of the West Indies. She started Orchid Blooms in efforts both to improve her
work, as well as to develop her artistic style.
The name Orchid Blooms is a tribute to Orchid flowers that she fell in love with after being
surrounded by them during a visit to her friends’, the Corpus Christi Carmelites, former home
at the then Petrotrin Camp in Pointe-a-Pierre. As much as she wants to work on other facets
of art besides flora, Gena-Marie felt as though the name is fitting for the site as many orchids
themselves originated in tropical regions such as Trinidad.
