Artist Bio

Chryston Floyd is a Trinidadian born musician and producer who spent his early years living in The Bahamas, which is where his love for music began. After getting his first guitar at age 5 he enrolled in classical guitar lessons where he was trained to play fingerstyle guitar. After returning to Trinidad, he went on to win multiple awards in the T&T Music Festival including Best Wind or Stringed Instrumentalist. During his final year of secondary school he was offered a scholarship from Berklee School of Music after attending their Summer Guitar Sessions in 2012. However, he declined the offer and instead chose to pursue academic studies at the University of the West Indies. In his search for more musical freedom, he formed a pop cover band (The Entourage) in high school with lead singer Christian Kalpee This band had a successful 6 year run in the local music scene, booking corporate gigs locally and in Canada. Eventually, after opening for Kes The Band they were a constant fixture in
the annual Tuesday on The Rocks concert. Floyd also played lead and rhythm quitar for several musical productions including The Wiz, Jesus Christ Superstar and Brian MacFarlane's Christmas Joy.
Floyd also has a growing list of production credits under his belt. Most recently, The One Link Riddim (Preedy,Mical Tejah,College Boy Jesse,Teddy Rhymez,Aisha Noel). However, he does not limit himself as a 'soca producer' boasting credits on parang, reggae and dancehall tracks. He also uses his blues, jazz and classical influences to create genre bending guitar instrumentals as a solo performer.
Artist Statement I believe we are all born with the right to expression. Regardless of the medium, I want to be an example of the freest form of expression and exploration. Through my eclectic musical experiences I have accumulated a unique set of skills and perspective on life which can only be
shared if I allow myself to be the vessel for it. Hence, I try to approach each musical performance and/or composition with an open mind and allow myself to be guided by the spirit of it which comes from an emotional place that we can all relate to.
