Artist Bio

A proud product of Trinidad and Tobago, Bridgette Wilson went on to study dance at York
University (2009) and Trinity Laban (2017) where she obtained her MA Choreography. In
2017, Wilson was appointed the Principal of Caribbean School of Dancing where she first
started her dance training in Trinidad. There she teaches a mix of genres through the
syllabuses of the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing
as a registered teacher for both establishments. An enthusiast of Carnival, Wilson found a
place to balance the festival and her art form through the Carnival band, The Lost Tribe, as
their Resident Choreographer for band launches, stage presentations and their first film
LAVWAY which premiered in Carnival 2021. Wilson also serves as the Rehearsal Director
and Resident Choreographer for the Metamorphosis Dance Company. Her choreographic
explorations are centred around personal experiences, desires, and fears with a recent focus
on mental health. Wilson’s work “We Jammin’ Still” was her first to focus on issues affecting
mental health, gun violence and the LGBTQ community. She wishes to continue using her
platform to speak out on these issues and provide a safe space for young people through
dance.
